These terms govern the services provided by ABS Module Lab ("we," "us"). By placing an order or shipping a module to us, you agree to them.
1. Services
We provide mail-in repair of ABS and stability-control modules ("repair") and, where a module cannot be repaired or you choose it, a refurbished unit of the same family programmed with the data read from your original module ("refurbished unit" or "replacement"). A repair price covers diagnosis, the repair of the module's electronics, parts and bench testing. Prices are listed per unit family and are starting prices (see Section 2); the any-make repair covers a module whose family is identified on arrival.
If the module you send belongs to a family priced differently from the service you bought, or needs work beyond the repair, we contact you with the options and the price difference before doing anything that changes the price. You may approve the difference, have the module returned, or cancel under Section 4.
3. Refurbished Units — No Advance Exchange
No advance exchange: your original module has to reach the bench first, because your vehicle's data (VIN, coding and configuration) is read out of it and written into the refurbished unit. That is what lets the refurbished module install like your own.
What happens to your original module after a refurbished unit is made from it is agreed with you, in writing, before that work starts.
4. Cancellation and Refunds
Refunds follow the stage your order has actually reached:
- Before your module ships to us: full refund.
- Your module has arrived but bench work has not begun: refund minus our documented shipping costs.
- Bench work has begun and you cancel: we refund the part of the price for work not yet performed, minus documented shipping costs; diagnosis and bench time already spent are earned.
- The service is completed as described: the price is earned and non-refundable.
- The module cannot be repaired: we tell you before any further work. You choose a refurbished unit of the same family (we quote any difference first), or your module back with the repair price refunded minus shipping costs.
- Shipping charges: refundable only where the shipment has not happened yet and the cost can be recovered.
5. Turnaround
Standard bench time is about one week from the day your module arrives. Rush repair (+$100) moves it ahead of the queue and targets 2–3 business days. Turnaround times are estimates, not guarantees; parts availability and the condition of the module can extend them, and we tell you if that happens.
6. Warranty
Every repair and refurbished unit carries a 1-year warranty on our work, starting when we ship it back. Extensions to 2 years (+$50), 3 years (+$100) or 5 years (+$150) are sold per module at checkout and cover the same thing for the longer period. The warranty page is part of these terms. It excludes damage from external causes — water, collision, electrical faults elsewhere in the vehicle (including jump-starts and charging-system faults), incorrect installation, and modules opened or repaired by anyone else after our work. Shipping for a warranty claim is paid by you in both directions: you send the module to us at your cost and pay for its return; the warranty covers the bench work and parts.
7. Installation
ABS and stability control are safety systems. The module must be installed by a competent person following the vehicle maker's procedure, including any bleeding, initialization or calibration the vehicle requires, and the brake system must be checked before the vehicle is driven. We are not responsible for installation or for the rest of the brake system.
8. Shipping and Risk
After payment we buy a prepaid inbound label and email it to you. We bear the risk while the module is in our possession, up to its fair used replacement value. Return shipping is the tier you chose at checkout and is insured at the service price unless you request a higher declared value.
9. Vehicle Data
We read the data stored in your module (such as the VIN and configuration) only to perform the service, and keep a copy only as long as needed to support the warranty.
10. Abandoned Modules
Modules left with us 90 or more days after we ask for instructions (for example, a declined quote with return shipping unpaid, or no reply) may be recycled after two written notices.
11. Limitation of Liability
Our total liability for any claim arising from a service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for that service or the module's fair used replacement value. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including towing, rental vehicles or lost time.
12. Independent Service
We are an independent repair company. Vehicle and supplier names and part numbers are used only to identify modules; no affiliation, endorsement or authorization is implied. Independent repair may affect a manufacturer warranty still in force on your vehicle — check yours before ordering.
13. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas. Venue for disputes is Tarrant County, Texas.
14. Electronic Agreement
At checkout you accept these terms by checking the boxes shown and typing your name, and you agree that this is your electronic signature. We keep the agreement, the version of these terms you accepted and the order record electronically, and a copy of your signed agreement is available from your order status page.
Questions about these terms: repairs@absmodulelab.com. The version you accepted at checkout is the one that applies to your order.
