Winter roads in Michigan: check the wiring first
MDOT salts state highways in winter from salt sheds around the state, and explains that pavement temperature decides when salt is used and when it works. source ↗
Roads in Michigan get salt or brine in winter, and that is hard on ABS wiring. Corroded wheel-speed sensor connectors and harness damage along the frame can set the same lights as a failed module. Before you pull the module, look at the sensor plugs and the module connector for green corrosion or broken pins. If they are clean and the codes point at the module itself — or the scan tool cannot talk to it at all — mail it in.

My ABS light came on after winter. Is it the module?
Not always. Salt and slush corrode wheel-speed sensor connectors and wiring, and that sets ABS codes too. Clean, dry connectors and codes that point at the module (or no communication with it) mean the module is the likely cause.
