C1611

ABS / stability-control fault code, listed for 1 vehicle line from Hyundai. What it means on each one, with sources, and when the module is the cause.

What C1611 means

Is it the ABS module?

Check the cheap things first: battery voltage and the main fuses for the ABS pump and module, the ground straps, the module connector (corrosion, a pushed-back pin) and, for wheel-speed codes, the sensor and its wiring at each wheel. If those are good and the code returns as soon as it is cleared — or the scan tool cannot talk to the ABS module at all — the module itself is the likely cause, and that is what we repair.

What does C1611 mean on a Hyundai Sonata (YF, gasoline)?

The source we cite for the 2011-2014 Hyundai Sonata (YF, gasoline) lists it as: CAN time-out EMS (ABS/ESC module not receiving engine-control messages) - Hyundai forum thread titles 'C1611 CAN time-out EMS' and '2006 sonata LX with C1611 C1616 code, the ESC off, ABS, and brake li. That vehicle uses ABS/ESC hydraulic unit assembly with integrated control module (HECU). Repair starts at $499.
